A new-build sports complex in Jersey is providing high-quality multi-sport facilities for the island’s community, with over 2,400m² of Gerflor flooring and Gradus accessories specified throughout.
The state-of-the-art Oakfield Sports Centre has been designed to support a diverse range of activities, creating an inclusive environment for users of all ages and abilities.
At the heart of the development is a 2,000m² multi-court sports hall accommodating badminton, netball, basketball, volleyball and indoor cricket.
Taraflex Performance SL in Light Cherry was chosen to provide a high-performance surface capable of meeting the demands of both competitive and recreational sport.
The project’s demanding construction programme, combined with movement and expansion joints in the subfloor, required careful consideration to ensure long-term performance while keeping installation on schedule.
Peter Garforth, Director at Morris Architects, commented: “The hall featured a number of movement joints within the screed. The importance of tolerances and achieving an SR2 level was agreed with the contractors, which meant the Taraflex SL flooring could be laid over the screeded floor. This reduced downtime on site and ensured a faster installation to meet the project and client needs.”
Alongside the sports flooring, 400m² of Tarasafe Ultra safety vinyl was chosen for stairways and ancillary areas, offering durable, slip-resistant performance in spaces subject to moisture and high levels of footfall.
