Dublin Airport has chosen an agria 9600 remote controlled slope mower for both airside and landside use.
Purchased from Wiedenmann UK dealer, Dublin Grass Machinery, the Irish airport specified the 112 cm version, which is the widest of the options available.
Chosen for its advanced safety features, the 9600 is fitted with multi-function LED lights which double up as both warning lights and switchable work lights, particularly useful in an airport setting.
Health & Safety is prioritised at all times; the machine is operated via a remote-control pad with joystick, which allows the operator to stand up to 100 metres away, always in a safe position.
Andy Kerr, who is lead demonstrator for both Wiedenmann UK and Agria UK, said:
“What clients find important is that the agria offers multiple safety features. Tilt and vibration sensors are built into the remote-control pad in case the operator accidentally trips or falls. When these sensors are triggered, the machine shuts down completely.
“The display screen also gives alerts about low fuel levels, and allows for monitoring of the machine temperature, battery and engine oil.
“The 9600s are hybrid bi-directional rotary mowers fitted with a powerful electronic fuel-injected KAWASAKI engine. They incorporate brushless non-maintenance 48v electric track drive motors which allows maximum torque and power directly to the eight sickle cutting blades. They give a wide cut 112 cm (44 inches) with a low cutting height of just 45 mm (1 ¾ inches).
“With electric brushless drive technology, the constant low voltage requires very little engine power to drive. The big advantage of this is that it allows maximum horse power to be directed to the blades, giving excellent mulching of the grass and leaving very little on the surface.”
