The ancient Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi embraces the idea that there is beauty in the imperfect. It is reminiscent of a time when utensils and tools were handmade and irregular, and each was respected and well cared for. The trend extends into the garden, where the rustic, natural beauty of the concept works well.
The Windsor Planter range from Forest Garden ties in with the trend with its rough sawn boards giving a soft warm look and castellated tops accentuating the height and providing an irregular aesthetic. Wabi-sabi encourages the use of natural materials such as wood, and the use of items that will stand the test of time, rather than ones that must be replaced. The Windsor Planters are built from pressure treated timber and fully lined to protect against rot, and supported by bearers on the base to keep it off the ground. As the years pass, the planters will gradually weather with the passing of time, but will be protected by a 15 year anti-rot guarantee.
The planters are available in three sizes, Square, Long and Tall, and can be used separately or in a group, with the Tall Planter being especially effective as a partition or boundary in your garden. This substantial planter has plenty of space for decorative planting or creating a kitchen garden. At 95cm tall, the planter is practical and will create an attractive feature in a garden or patio setting, with the height of the planter also meaning that plants can be tended to without having to bend down. The Square Planters are ideal used in pairs to frame an entrance, whilst the Long Planter would look beautiful placed under a window and planted up with tumbling, fragrant flowers, so their scent drifts into the house on a summer’s day.
