The local community of Chudleigh, Devon, has been enjoying a brand new play park which opened at Fore Street Park after the site underwent a major renovation thanks to a successful Town Council partnership.
HAGS SMP was involved in the consultation process of the Fore Street Park, located in the heart of Chudleigh, after the 15 year-old-site was identified for regeneration.
Park owners, Chudleigh United Charities (CUC) worked in partnership with the Town Council and carried out an extensive review to ensure the new site would meet the community's needs and provide a premier play facility for the town.
Michael Carter, Area Sales Manager of HAGS SMP, explains: "Having working with Chudleigh Town Council, we advised on which equipment would best suit their requirements after they recognised that their existing play area was old-fashioned and run down. Following the consultation process, we created a design that provided a greater range of challenging play equipment and catered for all ages, ranging from pre-school children to teenagers."
Equipment installed by HAGS SMP included an Olympic Swing, a Spinmee inclusive roundabout, a bespoke Uni-Mini unit, a Springtime multi-use seesaw, basket swing, a five-arm Titan frame with swing, rope ladder and seating options and a Nexus Altitude System. Wetpour surfacing was chosen as a robust, low maintenance option and also allowed HAGS SMP to introduce creative graphics in the playground design.
Funding for the Fore Street Park was supported by a grant of £49,705 through the Landfill Communities Fund as well as Section 106 funds generated from a local development.
Chudleigh Town Clerk, John Carlton, added: "As the play area is located in the centre of the town and next to a primary school, it is in frequent use so we needed equipment that was robust but low maintenance. Thanks to the Council's work with HAGS SMP, Chudleigh has a fun and dynamic playground that has significantly enhanced the local area and is popular with families. The inclusive play equipment has also been a welcome addition and has encouraged children of all abilities to play together."
