Experts at Trex - the world’s number one composite decking brand - has revealed that the average composite deck planned for this summer represents a year-on-year increase in size, as customers look to utilise their garden as an extension of their entertainment space.
Further trends revealed by the manufacturer that invented composite decking include a surge in demand for light, coastal inspired brown shades*. The theme is reflected by an increase in popularity for its Biscayne colour – described as capturing the beauty of mangroves and sandy coasts, with its light honey hues and natural grain pattern.
Biscayne is a colour offered within Trex’s Transcend Lineage collection which has integrated heat mitigation shell technology – revealing a greater focus on keeping cool under foot as the UK experiences warmer summer days more frequently.
The outdoor living specialist’s team of TrexPro deck builders – located across the UK – are experiencing high demand for its Signature and Transcend Lineage ranges, revealing the nation is shopping for quality in 2024 when it comes to transformations of gardens and outdoor living spaces.

Over the course of the brand’s long history, not a single tree has been cut down to create its range of decking boards. Instead, Trex is manufactured from post-consumer and post-commercial polyethylene plastic film derived from waste plastics, such as plastic bags, and reclaimed industrial wood scrap, meaning its boards are manufactured from up to 95 per cent recycled material.
