Boom time for sprayers

Boom time for sprayers
Spring is approaching and it will soon be time to start spraying, be it for weed or fertilising.

If you're working in any areas where manoeuvring can be a little tight, around trees, bushes, fences and posts, there is always the danger the boom can get snagged. Not so with the Wessex WS sprayers for ATV's.

These tough and durable sprayers have booms kept within the width of the ATV so there's no chance of snagging. The size of the boom is dependent on the pump size, with four to choose from, and the boom height is adjustable.

There are three WS models, the difference between them being the pump flow rate: 3.8ltr per minute, 8ltr/min and 18ltr/min at 3 bar maximum pressure, although that is variable on the larger models. With a 55 litre easy-to-clean and empty tank and many user-friendly features, all Wessex sprayers come as standard with a hand lance and 5m hose for spot spraying. Ideal for use in agricultural or amenity applications the sprayers feature high quality British build. The tank is durable rotomoulded polyethylene which is rounded to prevent slopping. Built-in lifting handles make the units easy to move and mount on the ATV. There is an in-line suction filter and gauze on the pipe to avoid pump contamination.

When you buy an ATV mounted sprayer you want to be sure the pump, tank and fittings are all built for long service life. After all, they are going to take a lot of punishment out there in the field.

Next you want accuracy when you're spraying. Anyone creating or maintaining a sterile strip to prevent aggressive weeds spreading or dealing with wildlife conservation areas, for example, will want to be as precise as possible.

"Durability, accuracy and versatility are the hallmarks of our WS sprayers," say manufacturers Wessex. It certainly is a clever design which, with standard and offset nozzles and anti-drip valves, gives an even spray of chemicals ranging from 1.5 metres up to 5 metres, depending on the choice of boom. That means large areas can be sprayed quickly and effectively.  The Whale pump used in the sprayers is said to be twenty percent more efficient on the draw from the battery than other types of pump.

We began by saying spring is on the way but what if we get the late snow, ice and harsh winter conditions? Well, there's a Wessex ATV mounted brine sprayer to deal with just that eventuality. The Wessex ATV brine sprayer is based on the popular WS-618-P sprayer, but has a specialist 1 ½ metre boom featuring 3 individual clusters of nozzles for varying applications. The 55 litre tank will hold enough brine to cover 1250 square metres or 1.5 metres width over a 1 kilometre distance.

Spraying brine is an increasingly popular method of snow and ice control and what better vehicle to use for this purpose than an ATV? Ideal for amenity areas, paths, yards, in fact anywhere there is some restriction on access for large gritting vehicles and unlike salt, brine doesn't get trampled indoors under foot.
