Dura-Sport were appointed to transform a large dilapidated courtyard in to a clean, secure play area and outdoor classroom at Severne Primary School in Birmingham.
All of the overgrown trees, shrubbery and vegetation were extracted and removed from the site along with the surface soil. A solid, stable stone base was created and the area was surfaced with a natural looking synthetic grass and a pathway was created using a contrasting beige synthetic grass.
This area is now utilised as both a play area and an outdoor learning space. Teachers are looking forward to holding meetings outside during the summer months, something that they have never been able to do before.
Severne Primary School has no natural green space and over the years Dura-Sport have helped them to transform their outdoor areas from barren, under utilised spaces to bright, inspiring, multi-functional spaces which can be used by children and staff throughout the year.
We have previously resurfaced a dilapidated rubber surfaced play area using Impact Play Carpet and have also converted a tarmac kickabout area in to a synthetic grass multi-sports pitch, or MUGA.
"Dura-Sport have converted an overgrown unusable space into a wonderful outdoor teaching area for the children of this school. This was not a straight forward job but each challenge was met with a positive "how can we best solve this" attitude and they didn't stop thinking until a solution had been found," said Laraine Dillon, Business Manager, Severne Primary School.
"We will employ Dura-Sport for the next phase of our school grounds refurbishment without hesitation. We are happy to recommend Dura-Sport to anyone looking for professional synthetic surface installers for their sport pitches or playgrounds."
