Introducing the Hybot 2 hybrid and remote-controlled steep-terrain mower
Hybot 2 is a brand new and highly-effective multi-terrain mower that will solve the problem of accessing awkward areas and steep slopes.

Manufactured in the UK, Hybot 2 made its first public appearance at this year's SALTEX in September, where it attracted a considerable amount of attention. Spurred on by the high level of interest, the Somerset-based firm behind this innovative new machine is now delighted to launch its unique and versatile mower onto the market.

Hybot 2 has been created to provide safe and effective access to areas that other mowers can't reach. It achieves this through an easy-to-use, specially designed remote control system that allows it to be operated from a safe and practical distance.

Its low centre of gravity and high-grip track system provides Hybot 2 with exceptional stability, features that enable it to work at an angle of up to 50-degrees. Weighing just 210kgs, it is the lightest machine of its kind and consequently, no other can climb banks and inclines that are as steep.

Hybot 2 is a true Hybrid. Each track is powered by two, high-torque, 24-volt DC electric motors that allow the machine to operate at speeds of up to six-mph, whereas a 17hp four-stroke petrol engine drives the two rotary cutting blades that provide it with a mowing width of 96cm (36 inches).

Whilst in operation, the petrol engine recharges the on-board hybrid system, with the surplus energy stored until needed. This means that Hybot 2 can be moved without starting the engine and therefore less effort is needed when the machine is in use. These features result in fuel savings and fewer emissions.

Adding to its environmental credentials, Hybot 2's designers are proud of its low ground-impact qualities: its lesser weight and wide tracks reduce surface damage and, as it is just as effective travelling backwards as it is forwards, there is no need to turn the machine at the end of a run. Consequently, this further reduces the potential of scuffing or tearing the ground surface.

Furthermore, Hybot 2 has been constructed without any hydraulic components, which means there is no risk of oil leakage from these items. This - and all of its other ecologically responsible features - makes it ideal for use in environmentally sensitive areas, such as SSSIs.

Future versions of Hybot 2 will offer the option of a twin-cylinder Kawasaki engine and a remotely operated cut-height adjustment.

"Having listened to our customers, we are confident that Hybot 2 will fulfill a real need in the market", said Hybot's Peter Loxston. "After extensive tests, we now know what the machine is capable of and therefore are very excited to be launching it this month. I am sure Hybot 2 will appeal to a wide range of clients, in particular government bodies, the military, sports venues and commercial operators."
