The UK's biggest artificial grass supplier has appointed a new Commercial Director in order to cope with the country's growing demand for synthetic turf.
Evergreens UK, which operates nationally from its base in Rutland, has created the new role following a 25% leap in sales during 2013, which the company aims to equal during 2014.
Peter Toghill, 59, will now support the growth of the business, across its trade, merchant and consumer brands, after Evergreens UK relocated him from Australia, where he worked for a number of international names over the last 20 years.
Peter, of Oakham, comments: "I'm delighted to have joined a company with such a strong reputation and it is a pleasure to be working for a family-run organisation.
"My main aims are to implement a sales objective and to bring new ideas and experience to the role in order to further drive the business forward, while continuing to build relationships with clients.
"I will also support the growth of our domestic licensee network, which operates across the country under our flagship LazyLawn brand, allowing us to accommodate more professional installations nationwide.
"On the merchant side of the business, I plan to set up e-learning modules for the stockists and buyers of ArtificialGrass.com, to ensure purchasers have all of the support they need to correctly install our synthetic turf."
Established for over 25 years, Evergreens UK has become the number one name in artificial grass thanks to its high quality turf, which looks and feels just like natural turf.
Peter adds: "Many years ago people had a poor perception of artificial grass, due to the association with the unconvincing green grocers grass.
"Over the last 25 years the company has transformed that image, but there is still work to do.
"In terms of domestic installations, a lot of people still don't realise they can have artificial grass installed in their garden or the difference it can make to their lifestyle, so it's up to us to demonstrate that this is a product that can greatly enhance their life.
"Our turf is mess-free and low maintenance, so home owners who are too busy to look after their lawn, those with children or pets and even those who currently pay someone else to maintain their garden could all benefit from an artificial lawn.
"We believe that artificial grass is the new double glazing and once it catches on, home owners across the country won't look back."
Evergreens UK has worked with some of the country's biggest names, having established itself as the synthetic grass of choice for Selfridges, JD Wetherspoon, Big Brother and London 2012 Olympic Games.
The faux turf specialist was also the first artificial grass brand to appear at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and is currently working on a number of projects for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2014.
