Play & Leisure were approached by two mothers who wanted to improve their current play area for the children of Chirk, by introducing more equipment specifically for toddlers as well as older children.
Sam Hughes, the clerk to the council, wrote a funding bid to WREN which was a successful so work could commence as soon as possible. The first part of the contract was to remove the outdated Swings, Roundabout & old Rocking Horse to make way for the new play area design to come together.
The new Play and Leisure equipment installed in its place, consisted of a 2 Seat Cradle/Inclusive Basket Swing, one of our Thames River Multiplay Units, Thunder Inclusive Roundabout, 4 Seat Elephant Seesaw, 25m Aerial Runway, Freeride Swing, a range of Activity Panels and multiple pieces of Street Furniture to complement the play area and a great place to relax and watch the children at play. The Wetpour safety surfacing, together with colour graphics created a more 'fun' look as well as conforming to safety requirements.
A tarmac pathway was constructed to run throughout the area enabling easy access to each piece of equipment and a brand new fence at the front & rear of the play area with two gates also installed ensuring an enclosed and safe area for children to play.
