Ormiston Wire reveals support for Olympic park trees
Ormiston Wire can reveal that its extensive knowledge and experience were applied during the mammoth task of landscaping the Olympic Park ahead of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Ormiston Wire manufactured and supplied the wire tree supports necessary to provide stability for 4,000 trees as they developed their roots, contributing to a massive planting programme that played a fundamental part in helping London win the Olympic bid.

Furthermore, Ormiston Wire's extensive knowledge and experience meant they were granted approved supplier status by the Olympic Delivery authority.

Ormiston supplied heavily galvanised 4.75mm 1 x 7 strand steel wire. This strand was considered ideal as it is annealed to make it more malleable, allowing it to be easily bent and fixed into the required shapes depending on the type of tree or the lay of the land surrounding the planting location.

The wire required presented an unusual challenge; it needed to be strong enough to provide the necessary support but also discreet so it didn't distract from the beauty of the trees themselves. With a breaking strength of 650 kg, the wire provided more than enough support against the elements in what was a vital growing period for the trees.

"We were delighted that we were chosen to support a project that played such a huge part in helping London secure the games," stated Mark Ormiston, Managing Director and the 6th generation at Ormiston Wire. "The landscaping received such positive comments throughout the games and, of course, will continue to give pleasure to visitors for many years to come."
