Specialist sports surface consultancy Total Turf Solutions (TTS) is set to undertake the Feasibility Report Stage of the North Halifax Pitch Improvement Project on behalf of Calderdale Council.
The reports will form an essential part of the project to overhaul rugby and football pitches at council-owned recreation grounds.
With part funding already secured from Sport England, the council is approaching other bodies including the FA for additional funds. The production of robust Feasibility Reports is an essential part of the process, as TTS' Lead Consultant on the project, Dr Andy McLeod, explains:
"As with any major project, a full understanding of site; including its topography and the surrounding geography, are essential in ensuring that the resulting pitches will not only meet the benchmarks set by the relevant National Governing Bodies but will be able to be maintained at this level in the long term.
"Our feasibility studies take into account drainage, construction, and agronomy - drawing on our extensive experience and using the latest surveying technology to ensure accuracy. An in-depth feasibility report with strong recommendations as to exactly what work is required is a of huge benefit when looking to secure funding from external sources as the report identifies the problem, presents a solution and lays out any industrial costs from the outset; taking into account any potential issues that may have an impact on a particular site."
With work planned to start on the main improvement works toward the end of the year, TTS is to embark on the surveying side of the project, which will involve full EMI scanning and topography analysis of the five sites within North Halifax, in January 2013.
