Jupiter Play and Leisure have been working extensively alongside Southern Green Landscape Architects and Watford Borough Council over the last 6 months to design and deliver a new bespoke adventure playground at Harebreaks Playground in Watford. This project was part of a 2-phase plan to provide the community with exciting, imaginative and fun play activities for children, families and young people to enjoy all year round.
The design process was a collaboration between all parties, allowing input into the design and construction process to ensure the end client; Watford Borough Council were delivered a play structure that went above and beyond expectations.
The design group visited Jupiter’s supplier brand FHS in Germany to witness the extensive treatment process the Robinia timber undergoes to increase longevity and enhance the quality of the material, before it was used to assemble the bespoke unit. They also discussed any final adjustments to the unit, and over watched the quality control process to ensure the installation process went as smoothly as possible when delivered to Watford.
The end unit is the ultimate treehouse adventure area; allowing children to scramble up a climbing wall and across a bridge to reach the top of the 15-meter tower before meeting the option of a fast-straight slide or a steep curled slide to reach the bottom. The unit has multiple entrance points, meaning there is no correct course for a child to take, leaving them with endless hours of fun and enjoyment whilst the materials used connect them with the surrounding natural landscape.
After taking less than a fortnight to complete the installation, the official opening of the playground was a great success, and left everyone looking forward to the second installation, a PiPA certified inclusive playground, which is due to be delivered at Easter.
