Roundwood of Mayfield’s decking range continues to expand with the addition of Cumaru, a rot resistant hardwood with outstanding durability.
Cumaru, also known as Brazilian teak or Tonka Bean, is native to Central and northern south America. It is one of the toughest timbers available on the market and is proven to excel in any temperature, making it perfect for outdoor use.
Thanks to the tropical climate it is found in, not only does its range of benefits include it being rich in harbouring oils and rot resistant, it is also insect proof too.
The wood’s golden-brown tan displays all the beauty and finesse of an interior hardwood while representing great value for those seeking good value, hard wearing decking that is durable in all weathers.
Cumaru boasts a similar density to the timber and garden specialist’s top-quality and consistently popular Ipe decking, which due to it being three times harder than cedar, is often referred to as “ironwood”.
Cumaru is available as 140 x 19mm smooth decking boards at £52.97 per m2 or as deck tiles (500mm x 500m x 30mm) at £17.40 each.
