The Association of Professional Landscapers (APL) annual awards ceremony, sponsored by Bradstone, took place at the Brewery in London.
Hosted by James Alexander Sinclair, the event recognised and celebrated the outstanding landscaping carried out by members of the APL.
Simply Green Landscapes Ltd & Andrea Newill Garden Design took home the top award for their Project: Hermitage.
The original outdoor space comprised of dated gardens as the house had originally been separate dwellings. Now one home, the new garden reflects this with obsolete walls, parking areas and enclosed spaces replaced with a unified garden.
An extensive sunken dining and entertaining terrace is located close to the house, with a barbeque area and space for a hot tub. A path leads beneath an oak pergola to the games room, wildflowers and a woodland garden, with water feature and bespoke bench. The design and naturalistic planting enhance views to the rural landscape.
The Judges commented: “This garden showcases fantastic spacial design and planting, combined with superb implementation of the project. The two work seamlessly together and they are worthy winners.”
This year’s judges were Richard Barnard from Hillier Landscapes (Chief judge), Bob Sweet – Horticultural director at River Street Events, Robin Templar Williams from Robin Williams and Associates, Rupert Keys from TASK (Training Academy for Skills and Knowledge), Rod Winrow from Garden House Design, and Phil Tremayne - APL General Manager.
