GreenTek’s new patent pending Flicker-Brush has been specifically designed to be the solution to the wormcast problem which groundsmen and greenkeepers have been struggling with ever since the banning of Carbendazim in 2017.
Existing brushes available all have the tendency to smear the wormcasts when damp, resulting in brown muddy looking turf.
The Flicker-Brush uses totally different technology to overcome this.
The bristles themselves are stronger and longer, and designed to pass between the blades of grass rather than smear over the surface.
The three brush frames all run on their own castor wheels, with the bristle tips set just lightly touching the turf. This causes the bristles to flex slightly backwards, then energetically flick forwards repeatedly as the brush moves over the turf.
This rapid flicking motion, combined with the extra bristle length and thickness, produces a shattering action on the wormcasts which effectively disperses them without smearing them into the turf surface.
Darren Morris, Course Manager at Wetherby Golf Club who has been trialling the Flicker-Brush during development says: “Since 2015 we have had eight consecutive floods, this has pushed the nutrient content through the roof. Worm activity is absolutely diabolical. The results so far have been very very encouraging, especially wormcast dispersal.”
The Flicker-Brush is also extremely effective for brushing up nap for a cleaner, longer-lasting cut. Darren says: “This has enabled a reduction in fairway mowing from 3 to 2 cuts per week.”
As well as improved turf quality, this has resulted in substantial savings in manpower, fuel costs, and mower wear.
At 5.3metres wide, the Flicker-Brush is also ideal for dispersing dew. Then, hydraulically folded in to 2.2metres, it immediately becomes a very efficient topdressing brush. This all-round capability makes it an excellent investment for sports pitches and golf courses, that both improves turf condition, and also saves time and money.
