Let’s face it; it’s so frustrating knowing that the grass needs a cut or there’s maintenance jobs to be done, but the weather’s against you. However, owners of Ventrac compact tractors don’t have this issue as their highly versatile machine with its numerous attachments can get out and work, even in the most inclement weather.
This is due to machine’s unique dual-wheel configuration (eight tyres in total) exerting just 6 psi ground pressure on the turf. This means that it’s one of very few machines that can can operate on a golf fairway or sports field during, or shortly after, a deluge.
Worm casts are the bane of a turf managers life during the autumn and winter months, but the Ventrac, with its selection of nine mowing decks and other attachments, can get out and get the job done.
Peter Pattenden, Golf Courses and Estate Manager at Carden Park in Cheshire says,
“Worm casts on fairways can are a significant problem; you don’t want to use reel mowers as you have to keeping sharpening the cylinders after use, but we can set the Contour deck, which has three rotary blades, at 19mm and keep everything looking good.
“Our Ventracs have many outstanding qualities: versatility, manoeuvrability, build quality, reliability, ease of operation, but one not readily appreciated until you have it, is the ability to operate in wet conditions. We can be wet up here in Cheshire and it’s got us out of jail on many occasions. We get flash flooding on parts of the courses after heavy rain, but we can still get out and work. I have even used both machines, side by side, with their Contour decks to mow the rough after heavy downpours.”
