Ray Parry Playgrounds wins Prestigious redevelopment in Shrewsbury's historic Quarry Park home to the famous Shrewsbury Flower Show and Birth place of Charles Darwin.
"‹Last month the Town Council appointed Shrewsbury-based company, Ray Parry Playgrounds Ltd, to transform the site after public votes were cast in favour of there design, Darwin's Islands of Adventure theme.
The design incorporates traditional play equipment such as slides and swings, as well as fountains and water features which will be built in place of the existing paddling pool.
Councillor Alan Mosley, Leader of the Council said: "I am delighted that work to transform the Quarry play area is moving ahead swiftly.
This is a really exciting scheme and the Town Council is proud to be able to take this project forward. It will rejuvenate the area and provide tremendous new facilities for Shrewsbury residents and visitors alike."
Councillor Andrew Bannerman, ward member for Quarry & Coton Hill added: "This is a major investment by the Town Council, which demonstrates its determination to provide the best play facilities for the ever increasing numbers using our wonderful Quarry."
The final decision was decided by Online Voting, questionnaires to Local schools and children's groups and finally a presentation to a full council members meeting Ray Parry commented by saying that Shrewsbury will have a complete new Play provision that will be a great asset to the town for many years ahead.
This exiting new addition will enhance the award winning park and become a jewel in the crown for Shrewsbury Town Council and by encouraging more visitors to the Town will be beneficial to local businesses.
