Property Care Association appoints new CEO

The Property Care Association (PCA) has appointed Sarah Garry as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Sarah moves to the PCA with a remit to build on the trade body’s solid foundations, created by departing CEO, Steve Hodgson.

Currently Executive Officer at the British Society of Soil Science, Sarah takes up the PCA’s leadership role in November.

Formed more than 90 years ago, the PCA represents the structural waterproofing, wood preservation, damp-proofing, residential ventilation, flood remediation and invasive weed control industries, as well as the structural repair sector.

Drawing on her extensive experience in membership associations, Sarah’s immediate priorities include amplifying the PCA’s links with Government and policymakers and developing an agile training programme to meet the demands for a modern, healthy and energy-efficient housing stock in the UK.

Sarah said: “I am really looking forward to the challenge ahead.

“The PCA can add considerable value to Government policy on issues including retrofitting housing.

“With factors such as energy efficiency and climate having an impact on the UK’s current housing stock, PCA members have the expertise to play a key role in upgrading homes, whilst contributing their technical knowledge so that new homes can be built safely and sustainably.

“One in eight people in the UK work in construction and the wide variety of opportunities within our membership profile lends itself to interesting and varied career choices.

“We will be further developing training programmes and initiatives that ensure new recruits benefit from long-lasting careers, and have the technical expertise to support building owners and tenants, framed around the Government’s need to transform the nation’s homes.”

Sarah will be supported by James Berry, who has been promoted from his role as the PCA’s Technical Manager to the new position of Deputy CEO.

John Bradley, Chair of the PCA, added: “Sarah’s experience gained from senior leadership roles with both Build UK and the British Society of Soil Science is perfectly aligned with the future goals and ambitions of the PCA.

“She will bring energy, enthusiasm and experience in areas including organisational leadership, people management, executive management, organisation, communication, business and leadership, while James’ promotion to Deputy CEO will play a pivotal role in the PCA’s delivery of technical expertise.”
